Ushering in the summer with an inspiring AW

Last week, Women in Tech Gothenburg (WITGBG) hosted its pre-summer break afterwork (AW) at International House Gothenburg. It was a beautiful evening of networking, offering a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community members in an informal, intimate setting.

Driving action through community advocacy

The session kicked off with our moderator, Deepshikha Monga, the head of content and communications at WITGBG, sharing a brief overview of our organisation’s key focus areas: Inclusion, Leadership and Growth.

Deepshikha highlighted how these concepts translate into action, showcasing our recent Community Spotlight series as a prime example. Through this initiative, we actively advocate for women across the ecosystem, creating a clear pipeline of future leaders by celebrating today's role models.

Entrepreneurship and ambition in focus

Next, Isabelle Coquet, our head of brand and marketing, took the stage to interview our phenomenal guest speaker, Audrey Baba, the founder and CEO of circularity-focused platform LOOPCHAIN.

Audrey’s story of diving headfirst into entrepreneurship shortly after moving to Sweden, all while navigating life as a new mother, left the room spellbound.

As one attendee beautifully pointed out later on LinkedIn, Audrey’s journey shows that “motherhood and ambition do not have to compete with each other - they can grow together.”

Isabelle’s thought-provoking questions and Audrey’s candid answers sparked one of our most interactive audience Q&A sessions to date, filled with shared experiences and entrepreneurial reflections.

Audrey also shared with the audience with her five "secret ingredients" for launching and scaling a new venture:

🌱 A whole lot of purpose

🦸🏻‍♀️ A healthy dose of fearlessness

💡 A little bit of delusion

🤝 Never shying away from asking for advice

❤️ A deeply supportive community

Fueling the next generation

What stood out most, however, was the encouraging feedback from our attendees. One community member, who brought her young daughter (and future girl in tech, we hope) to the event, reflected: “Standing there, surrounded by so many talented, inspiring women, I couldn’t help but feel proud—not just of how far we’ve come as a community, but of what the future holds for the next generation.”

Another shared, “I had such a great time at this event, connecting with so many inspiring women at different stages of their entrepreneurship journeys… I am grateful for events like this.”

Moments of connection

We wrapped up the electric evening by mingling over non-alcoholic wine, fresh croissants, and delicious finger food from Julie's Cafe.

An event like this requires an incredible team to bring it to life. A massive thank you to everyone involved, including Sayalee Chaudhary for capturing all the beautiful moments of the evening, and Mamtha Pullat, Sneha Sridhar and Xiaonan Lu for making sure everything went well without a hitch.

Finally, our deepest gratitude goes to International House Gothenburg, especially Sheeba Alakkal and Mónica Andrea Cabarcas, for being such phenomenal hosts. We are incredibly grateful for our shared passion for inclusion, diversity, and creating a true sense of belonging in the city.
