Our Values
Equity
Diversity and inclusion are two important and frequently used terms that often get mistaken for each other. At Women In Tech Gothenburg we have learnt to distinguish them through our own experiences.; While Diversity asks “Who is in the room?” and Inclusion asks “Has everyone’s idea been heard?” Equity is trying to bridge the gap by asking “Who is trying to get in the room but can’t?”. Our intention is to emphasise equity, inclusion, and diversity as the foundation for a fair and sustainable society.
Empowerment
To us at Women In Tech Gothenburg, empowerment refers to increasing people’s ability to make strategic choices in their lives; to be autonomous and to act with courage from one’s own agency. Our aim is to support the women and non-binary people in our community to become forces to be reckoned with individually and absolutely unstoppable when organised as a collective.
Curiosity
Creativity and curiosity - the very ability to look at the world not just for what it is but for what it could be - are human traits that we at Women In Tech Gothenburg treasure. We want to encourage our community to constantly wonder: what if? As well as provide them with the tools necessary to examine a society/world/product/life/service that goes beyond the current and in to whatever comes next.
Our Goal
To create a fair and equal tech-industry by strengthening women and non-binary people’s positions through education, community-building and advocacy. Our aim is to make both the women within the field, the industry itself and the products-and services it produces better: As we know that a diverse industry creates more diverse technologies.
